Aquarium canister filters
essentially provide healthy and clear water for your freshwater
or saltwater tank inhabitants. They are always external
and filter in three different ways,
they are, are biologically, mechanically and chemically. One of
the most commonly used filtration systems is a canister filter,
which can do a combination of the three filtration methods. They
can be used as a stand alone or as an addition to other filtration
devices, such as a protein skimmer. The use of an aquarium
powerhead may also increase the effectiveness of the aquarium
filter by preventing detritus and other particles from collecting
on the tank floor and being filtered out of the aquarium.
We carry two different types of aquarium filters that
are comparable to Eheim and Fluval, they are:
- •Aquarium Canister Filters
- •Aquarium Canister Filters with built in UV
Clarifier
- These aquarium canister filters essentially work
the same. They both perform biological, mechanical and chemical
filtration, by way of bio-balls, filter pads and chemical
absorbtion media. A filter with a UV clarifier will also perform
Ultraviolet clarification. This type of filtration is benficial
in cases where suspended algae is an issue, especially in freshwater
aquariums. Although, saltwater aquariums will also benefit
from the anti-bacterial sterilization properties of the UV
bulb.
