A UV clarifier or sterilizer can be an excellent addition to your current koi pond or garden pond
current filtration system. Whether it's pressurized canister filter or a gravity filter,
a UV clarifier or sterilizer can help aide in the maintenance
of a perfectly clear koi or garden pond.
How does a UV Clarifier or Sterilizer work and what does it do?
The basic priciple is simple. There is an ultraviolet bulb inside that when water passes over it at the correct speed or flow rate any suspended algae, the algae responsible for pea soup water,
in the water is killed. This is great but, now we need a place to catch all the dead algae and this is why a pressurized canister filter or a
gravity filter is necessary to use in conjuction with a UV clarifier or sterilizer. By doing this your koi pond or garden pond water
can clear up relatively quickly, within two to three days. There are combination uv pond filters now available for pond owners that are building new koi or
garden ponds, or for pond owners that would rather not retrofit an existing pond filtration system. |
